John Cumbler is a retired history professor from the University of Louisville. He has written seven books. Besides having held fellowships with the ACLS and the National Endowment For The Humanities, he held the John Adams Distinguished Fulbright Chair in the Netherlands and is a Honorary Fellow at the University of Warwick, England.
