10 American Artists in New England

$60.00
sold out

Lewis Shepard

April 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12

Mondays, 10:30-12 on Zoom

Art History often uses compare/contrast as an approach to understand and appreciate works. In this class we will apply this approach to ten of the artists of great talent who have worked in New England and whose art shows richness of subject and skills. Among them are John Singer Sargent, Frank Benson, Edward Hopper, Scott Prior, Frank Stella, Alex Katz, Helen Frankenthaler, Michael Mazur, Louise Nevelson and Maya Lin.

Each session will focus on artists who worked in the same time frame but chose variant styles and subjects. We will look at paintings, graphic arts, and sculpture. Most of the works selected are from New England museums and libraries.

Remember: to register, first choose your courses and then complete your checkout by going to your cart.
