Of course, food also acts as metaphor for desire, control, creativity, and revenge. Who can forget the lustful dining in Richard Lester’s film, Tom Jones, or the curious method a wife uses to win back her husband’s attention in The Phantom Thread?
In this class, we will read a range of writers who address food and eating, and explore the symbols and metaphors used in their works through their language, perspective, and style. with instructor, Emerson College professor Indira Ganesan.
