   Dwight Estey

Picture
Dwight Estey is currently the president of the Wellfleet Historical Society and Museum. Prior to being on the board of directors he could be found giving historical walking tours of Wellfleet or helping museum visitors with research. Mr. Estey graduated in 1974 from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. degree from the School of Education. He immediately returned to his home town of North Attleboro to begin a 35 year career in teaching. In 2010 the North Attleboro Alumni Committee awarded him their Outstanding Teacher Award. Teaching afforded him the opportunity to live and work in Wellfleet every summer since his marriage to Arlene in 1975. Among his jobs were twenty years at the South Wellfleet General Store, five years as summer recreation director and currently you may find him at Midcape Home Center on Commercial Street two days a week helping customers with their home projects Mr. Estey has also served stints as the vice president of the Wellfleet Non-Resident Taxpayers Association and as a trustee for the Wellfleet Conservation Trust. Among other honors he has received are induction into the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Hall of Fame and the renaming of the North Attleboro High School track to the Dwight E. Estey Track.
